Downtown Disney is open to the public, and there is no admission charge. If you want to eat, shop or go to the movies here, the first three hours of parking are free, and you can get two more hours free with validation from the movie theatre or any sit-down restaurant. When it opened in 2001, though, Disney's California Adventure was a much-maligned theme park, with critics complaining that there were too few rides and attractions.

Downtown Disney has selected stores. you should check the shopping directory for stores you are interested in visiting. AMC theatres also has a location here.

Downtown Disney is a 20-acre, nongated promenade of dining, shopping, and entertainment that connects the Disneyland Resort hotels and theme parks. Restaurant-nightclubs here include the House of Blues, which spices up its Delta-inspired ribs and seafood with various live music acts on an intimate two-story stage. At Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen you can dig into New Orleans-style food and music. Sports fans gravitate to ESPN Zone, a sports bar-restaurant-entertainment center with American grill food, interactive video games, and 175 video screens telecasting worldwide sports events. There's also an AMC Megaplex movie theater with stadium-style seating, which plays the latest blockbusters and, naturally, a couple of kids' flicks.
